The Rev. Jim Trimble was born and raised in Louisville, KY, one of four boys. Growing up in the Catholic faith, he was received into the Episcopal Church at age 16. He joined the Episcopal Church, at least in part, due to an Episcopal summer camp experience. Jim studied broadcast communications at Murray State University, followed by a 15-year career in public broadcasting serving radio stations in Wilmington, NC and Louisville.
While still working in public radio, Jim volunteered with the EYC and with mission work at his church. Feeling the call to ordained ministry at the age of 8, he finally answered it at age 35 and graduated from the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, TX in 2005. Jim was ordained a deacon in June and a priest in December of that same year.
He previously served as Rector of St. Mary's Church in Madisonville, KY, Associate Rector at St. Matthew's Church in Louisville, KY, and Rector of St. James Episcopal Church in Pewee Valley, outside of Louisville.
Jim is married to Sarah Peoples Trimble. They first met at church camp while in high school, and then reconnected 12 years later. Sarah is the daughter of an Episcopal priest, and is a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. Their son, Riley, is a student at Spartanburg High School.
Gracious and loving God, whose only Son was raised from the dead to make all creation new, we thank you for the calling of Jim Trimble as our next Vicar, we thank you for his wife Sarah and their son, Riley. We pray that you would be with them as they take all of the steps, big and small, necessary to move to Spartanburg. We pray that you would be with St. Christopher’s as we prepare to welcome and receive Jim, Sarah, and Riley. Breathe your Spirit on all of us in this transition process at St. Christopher's so that we might see your loving hand at work in all we do, in all we say, and in all we are. Amen.
